The Minneapolis Riverfront District boasts wonderfully
unique cultural and artistic institutions. Here are a few:
The Soap Factory
The Soap Factory is a stunning, turn-of-the-century wood and brick warehouse
with over 40,000 square-feet of space. This raw industrial space provides
a truly unique showcase for sculpture, video and installation art,
as well as traditional gallery space for painting, photography, and
other two-dimensional work.
Open Book
Visitors can watch the book printing and binding process, check out
the gift store, explore the exhibition gallery or stretch out in
the Literary Commons with a good book and a snack from the cafe.
Other activities
include
live performances, classes and literary readings.
Theatre de la Jeune Lune
This nationally renowned, internationally flavored theater company
is known for highly physical and visually spectacular productions.
They are
one of the true gems of the Minneapolis theater scene. Housed in
a rustic warehouse space, the theater alone is worth the trip.
The
New Guthrie Theater
The famous Guthrie Theater moved to the Riverfront District. The
long awaited space brings another fantastic asset to the area.
